Adding a Furniture 3D Configurator to an Existing Website
Add interactive 3D and finish choices to your furniture website. See what model preparation, configuration and integration involve with FurnishAR.
A furniture 3D configurator lets buyers rotate a product and see how their selected fabrics, wood finishes or components change its appearance. It can sit alongside the photographs, dimensions and purchasing options on an existing product page.
For a brand considering this service, the practical questions are straightforward: can we use our existing models, who prepares the materials, and how does the experience connect to our website?
With FurnishAR, the work can include model preparation, material setup, configuration and website integration. The scope starts with your actual product and the choices customers need to make.
Start with a product page and its options
Choose a product with a clear set of choices. For example, an upholstered chair might have independently selectable fabrics and frame finishes.
Before preparing the experience, identify:
- the product and dimensions to represent;
- the fabrics, finishes and components customers can select;
- any combinations that are unavailable;
- the website page where the viewer should appear;
- what should happen after a customer makes a selection.
This defines a project that can be assessed and quoted. Additional products, sizes or purchasing rules can then be scoped from their actual requirements.
Existing models can provide a starting point
SketchUp, CAD and rendering models may contain useful product geometry. Their suitability needs checking before estimating the preparation.
That review covers proportions, dimensions, visible geometry, material assignments, texture mapping and the exported file. A model prepared for a still render may need adjustments when buyers can rotate it and inspect every side.
If no usable model exists, modelling can be included from agreed photographs, drawings and dimensions. You can also request model preparation as a separate service.
Make finish choices visible on the product
A fabric swatch shows a material sample. A configurator shows that material applied to the seat, backrest or other agreed part.
The model needs material assignments that support those choices. Wood grain direction, fabric scale and surface roughness also need attention so that the selected combination remains understandable when viewed from different angles.
Digital materials provide a visual preview. Physical samples remain useful for final colour and surface approval.
Choose how the viewer connects to your website
There are two integration approaches to consider.
A dedicated configurator interface can provide the material controls beside the 3D view. This is useful when the existing page does not already have suitable option menus.
Alternatively, existing website controls can be connected to the 3D experience. That requires mapping the website's choices to the corresponding materials or parts and checking how the current store handles selections.
Share the product URL and website platform when requesting a quote. Connecting an existing options plugin, adding purchasing rules or building a bespoke interface needs assessment against the actual implementation.
Define the action after configuration
Displaying a selected finish, printing a summary, sending an enquiry and adding a configured product to a cart are different requirements.
If the experience needs prices or order integration, specify where that information comes from and what the store must receive. These requirements should appear explicitly in the project scope.
Acceptance checks should cover the selected options, mobile layout and agreed next action. If AR is included, its supported phone workflows need separate verification.
Try two FurnishAR demonstrations
The wood and upholstery demonstration presents material choices on a Union Drvo C-4075 bar stool.
The concrete and wood demonstration presents a different finish workflow on a Tournesol Paso bench.
Both are independent FurnishAR demonstrations. They illustrate implementation capability and are not commissioned customer projects or claims about sales results.
Request a quote for your product
Send a product page, available model files, dimensions and the options you want buyers to select. Include the website platform and whether the next step should be an enquiry, a printed selection or a purchasing workflow.
Request a FurnishAR project quote.
Model creation, materials and implementation are scoped separately from the ongoing platform subscription. You can review the current FurnishAR plans alongside the project requirements.
